I've seen hundreds of concerts. Nothing measures up to the magnitude of a Pink Floyd show. It is a light and sound spectacle of immense proportions that a stadium seems barely sufficient to contain. Between the huge video screen, things crashing into the stage, giant robots, lasers, and the Pig from Hell, the show often seems to dwarf the individual performers. This really struck me as interesting, especially the first time I saw them. Most concerts are about making the performers larger than life. Pink Floyd is about making the music -- and the story lines that go with them -- the focus of the show. The band may still seem larger than life, but the stage props are twice as tall as the band and they barely come up to the bottom of the video screen. YouTube clips are probably much more efficient in illustrating this. Pink Floyd -- One of These Days |

I have more photos, mostly black and white, but there are still a few color shots I haven't scanned yet. When the photographers were led out to our designated spot, we were told we could shoot the first three songs. They didn't come back for an hour to retrieve us. |
