I don't think I ever worked a Roy Clark show, but I did watch the load-in and set-up. Most stars tend to skip this part, and are not summoned until the band and the techs pronounce readiness for a sound check. Some of them don't show up for the sound check at all. I don't know if this the normal procedure, but on that particular day, Roy dragged a chair to center stage, sat down with his back to the empty room and played acoustic guitar to the crew until things took shape. Then he brought out the Gibson for a while. Roy Clark is a guitarist's guitarist. He rocks, he rolls, he picks, he grins. It's all good.
